Set high in the Himalayas, Darjeeling is regarded as the "Champagne of Tea" for its one-of-a-kind terroir. Each garden—and even individual slope sections within a garden—has its own distinctive microclimate that gives rise to unique fragrance and flavor characteristics. While cultivar selection plays a role, the true complexity of Darjeeling tea is best understood through the lens of terroir. Differences in elevation, slope grade, aspect and sun exposure all contribute to each tea's singular character.

The Chamong gardens are located in southern Darjeeling's Rongbong Valley, neighboring Selimbong, and were first planted in the 1870s. The estate's gardens are nestled along steep hillsides at elevations ranging from 1,150 to 1,850 meters above sea level. Surrounded by towering deciduous forests, the region is home to monkey troops, native wildlife and an abundance of diverse flora.

Teas from Chamong Estate are celebrated for their expressive character, offering notes reminiscent of peach, nectarine, lily, orchid and Muscat grape. The estate's second flush teas are especially prized for their ripe, succulent fruit character, complemented by gentle roast notes and elegant floral aromatics.
