"Deep and rich, this Pu'erh is like a comforting hug with its earthy, smooth flavor. Perfect for daily enjoyment." - Theresa T.

Rich, full-bodied and smooth with a deep earthy sweetness and notes of cocoa

This exclusive Pu'er blend originates from the remote Dai, Lahu and Wa ethnic mountain villages in southern Yunnan Province, where heirloom broad leaf tea varietals have developed a complexity from centuries of seed propagation. Ancient Pu'er Classic comprises multiple vintages resulting in a uniquely bold flavor profile with a body as deep as its history. This Shu Pu'er is notable for its notes of earthy sweetness, hints of cocoa and a woodsy, aromatic finish. The very best in everyday organic Pu'er.

FAQs

What is Pu’er tea?

With a history spanning over two millennia, Pu’er tea is one of the oldest types of tea. Originating from Yunnan province in southwestern China, there are two types of Pu’er: raw, green sheng Pu’er and ripened, dark shu Pu’er.

What food pairs well with organic Pu’er tea?

Rishi Tea’s loose leaf Pu’er tea has a strong, earthy flavor and may help you digest a large, rich meal. Enjoy organic Pu’er tea after a meal with strong umami flavors, such as meat dishes or stir-fries, or traditional Chinese fare such as dim sum.

Can I brew Pu’er tea cold?

Yes, it works well as a cold tea. You can try the Pu’er Longbrew, which mixes earthy sweetness with notes of cocoa. Brew 20 grams Pu’er Classic in 20 ounces filtered water for five hours, covered. Drain, allow to cool, then serve chilled or fresh over ice.

What is the best way to enjoy Pu’er Classic?

Organic Pu’er tea is a great choice for your morning tea ritual, especially on those days when you want to savor a cozy drink. The black, deeply oxidized properties of Shu Pu’er are associated with warming yang energy and perfect for cool weather.

Reviews Summary
Customers say: this loose leaf tea has a rich, earthy flavor with smooth, full-bodied taste. Many appreciate its coffee-like appearance and energy without jitters, making it an excellent afternoon coffee replacement. The tea steeps multiple times and offers gentle caffeine release. However, reviews are divided on aroma - while some enjoy the earthy fragrance, others find it overwhelmingly fishy or seaweed-like. Common feedback includes descriptions of mineral, leather, and slight chocolate notes. Some find it bitter when over-steeped, while others praise its mellow character. Many long-term customers consider it their daily tea, enjoying both hot and iced preparations.

    Hard to find!

This is a wonderful fermented tea that may spoil you for any other non herbal teas. Rich complex flavor that I prefer over coffee most days because it’s so much smoother.

    A good Pu'er tea

I've had many pu'er teas and this one is the smoothest that I can recall. A Very good cup of tea.
