A juicy and fresh infusion with notes of floral cherry blossoms and mochi. Sweet and savory with deep umami.

The Organic Arita Farm, where we sourced this Shincha lot, is located on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, south of Kagoshima and Mount Kirishima, where many of Rishi Tea’s organic teas are cultivated. The farm specializes in organic tea production and takes great pride in its meticulous soil management and composting practices, which help produce exceptionally rich and vibrant green teas.

The region’s volcanic soil contributes both a thick, satisfying mouthfeel and a vivid green color in the cup. This micro-lot is the first-picked Shincha from Arita Farm’s Saemidori cultivar garden.

The tea is crafted using a mid-steaming (chumushi) process and finished with a light roast to enhance its smooth, full-bodied character while highlighting the distinctive qualities of the Saemidori cultivar.

Kagoshima Prefecture is located at the southwest tip of Kyushu (the third largest island of Japan) and is largely mountainous and home to important lumber, fishing and agriculture industries. Much like the rest of Japan, this region has well manicured tea gardens with well-developed irrigation, and farmers follow strict growing procedures to produce this perfect tea bush shape and size.
