About This Product
Our team selected this charming kyusu at the Morimasa studio during our 2025 visit to Tokoname, Japan. A departure from the traditional side-handled style, this ushirode kyusu features a larger-than-average shinmaru body, allowing leafy teas and expanding botanicals ample room to unfurl.
Crafted using a technique known as slurry casting (deisho-ikomi), each component is precision-molded and carefully assembled by hand before being fired at high temperatures. The unglazed earthenware surface offers an ideal balance of heat retention and porosity, enhancing the texture and finish of your tea.
Although this brewing vessel is ideal for green teas, we encourage you to choose which tea you’d like to dedicate it to. Please note that some botanical infusions (especially fruit-forward blends) may cause discoloration or residue buildup over time.
