- Darjeeling First Flush Lingia DJ4
Darjeeling First Flush Lingia DJ4
Floral and fruity with a smooth finish. This lot has a perfect strike on the firing that presents a smooth baked sweetness which accentuates the heady floral and fruity top notes. Fresh lily, orchid and grape notes shine through.
The Lingia Estate was planted in 1867 at the historic site of the Tamsa Devi Temple on the steep slopes of the Golden Valley, directly across from the famed Tumsong Estate. Constant cool Himalayan winds throughout this expansive mountainous region cause the tea to grow gradually. The slow and steady leaf growth during Darjeeling’s first flush spring harvest concentrates and accentuates remarkable multi-floral and fruity aromas.
The Lingia garden is planted with pure China bushes of the “Black China Variety,” a cultivar genetically close to the rose bush. These vintage tea bushes are especially known for yielding naturally occurring rose and heady floral notes. This year’s lot is floral and fruity with a smooth finish, complemented by a precise firing that brings out a gentle baked sweetness and enhances the tea’s expressive floral and fruit-forward top notes.
The eagerly anticipated first flush harvest in March and April produces teas with fresh, vibrant energy. This lot from the Lingia Estate showcases remarkable floral and fruity flavors found only in teas from the extraordinary Darjeeling Himalayan region.
