A masala chai for the bold, finished with hot ginger and cayenne chili flakes

Inspired by the bold street chai of India, this version turns up the heat in the very best way. We doubled the amount of hot, citrusy ginger compared to our original Masala Chai and added a touch of cayenne for an extra kick.

A base of robust assamica from Southeast Asia gives the blend its full body, while cardamom, cinnamon and clove add sweet, fragrant complexity. Simply mix with your choice of milk and sweeten to taste for a rich, spicy cup that warms you up from within.

Reviews Summary
Customers say: this spicy chai blend offers a warming, well-balanced flavor with noticeable ginger and black pepper warmth. Many appreciate the spice level as just right—providing a pleasant kick without overpowering the chai's depth. The blend features visible spices with a rich, complex taste that works well with milk and honey. Some find the black tea element lighter than expected and occasionally mix it with the regular masala chai for their preferred balance. A few wish for more intensity or availability in smaller sizes or tea bags. Overall, customers enjoy this as a daily ritual and morning substitute for coffee.

    Obsessed

I recently returned from Winchester, England where I'd had and purchased a spicy chai. When I'd finished it at home, I was so sad as I'd gotten into a habit of making myself a rather savory dirty chai in the mornings. When I found this spicy masala chai, I was deeply curious about the flavors - different from the spicy chai I'd been drinking, not really sweet, and incredibly delicious. I purchased the 1lb bag and am so glad I did because it is wonderful. I am obsessed!

    Excellent extra spicy!

I'm passionate about extra spicy chai and Rishi is the only company I've found that makes a separate extra spicy blend - Rishi's original Masala Chai has been my go-to and I've loved this new spicier version. I will say that the spicier version seems to brew less strong TEA and may be a little lower in caffeine, which I love and is actually my preference, but worth flagging for those who may not want to lose out on the darkness of the black tea element in the blend!

    Well balanced!!

I think the tea has a very pleasing flavor with a super nice Chai depth. I believe the spice is great, because you can always add more ginger or chili, but it's hard to subtract it! If it had much more, there would be too many complaining about it being too spicy. Great flavor - I mix mine with Califia "Better Half" CoconutCream/Almond Milk (non dairy). I also add some Lakanto Monk Fruit. It's delicious - feels very comforting.

    Delicious & Quality!

Perfect amount of spice that doesn't overwhelm the black tea flavor. Only wish this came in tea sachets.

    Lovely tea but not “spicy”

It’s a beautiful looking and tasting tea, but when I read there was a “regular” chai and a “spicy” chai, I chose spicy. It really needs a little more “kick” to it in my opinion to be considered spicy. I do add a little extra black tea as I like a more caffeine. I would suggest buying a sample to see if it meets your’ needs…
