Doi Chiang Dao
Northern Thailand
There are tea growing villages and areas of forest tea all over the Doi Chiang Dao region between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. Once part of a greater Dai Kingdom that spanned the regions of Burma, Yunnan, and parts of Laos, Northern Thailand is part of a rich history of tea culture that has brought Chinese tea practices and traditions to the area. Home to widespread old growth tea forests, Doi Chiang Dao is an amazing source of oolong, red and Pu’er teas.

I was introduced to Rishi tea at Saltworks Spa in Bel Air Maryland. I enjoyed it so much I looked it up and ordered my own. I keep a stock of the Peach, English Breakfast, Camomile, and Poached Pear. I hate that Poached Pear is only seasonal. My tea is my peace time and living my tea makes it even better.

My tea-drinking life has changed completely since discovering Rishi English Breakfast. I love my tea strong with cream and sugar (what friends in the UK call Builder's Tea), and, no matter how strong I make it, your English Breakfast is smooth and flavorful, never bitter or astringent. I've bought roughly 10 pounds of the loose leaf variety in the last few years and always have at least two big cups on any day I'm having breakfast at home. I also make pitchers of iced tea with it that are a permanent fixture in my fridge. The only downside is that I am now completely spoiled. Getting a cup of tea at a restaurant is nearly always a disappointment, because I know it's SO much better at home.

English breakfast is my go to tea for over a decade. Ive tried dozens, and I had high hopes for Rishi. But this one falls flat. The flavor is very weak. This is good for someone who likes a milder tea. I will finish what I bought but I will not repurchase.

- MaxVerified BuyerReviewingEnglish BreakfastI do not recommend this productRated 1 out of 5 stars2 weeks agosustainability
I love the taste of Rishi English Breakfast, but their practices and pricing make no sense. For a 15 count box of sachet tea bags, that use a bag, a plastic pouch for each tea bag, a string and a tag as well as the box itself is less cost/serving to the customer than a lb of loose leaf tea that does not use all of this packaging. There is absolutely no incentive to practice sustainability. It's $10 for 15 servings (for the boxed tea bags) and $50 for 45 servings of loose tea. Make this make sense, Rishi.
Was this helpful?Rishi Tea & Botanicals2 weeks agoHi Max! Our sachets are designed for single-use in an 8oz cup, versus our loose leaf tea at 12oz. You can reduce the leaf-to-water ratio when brewing loose leaf to yield additional servings. The beauty of loose leaf tea is that is it so adaptable, and you can also resteep your brew for additional sessions! We aim to share exceptional tea experiences in the format that works best for you, we are grateful for your feedback.
