This premium grade of Yunnan Golden Pekoe is made in the Dian Hong red tea style using the Xiang Gui Yin Hao tea bush cultivar. Dian Hong is a famous type of tea from Yunnan that translates to “Yunnan Red,” alluding to the rich red soils of Yunnan Province and the distinctive style of red tea (hong cha) developed there in the 1950s.

The Xiang Gui Yin Hao cultivar is known for its abundance of large, frosty bud tips and elegant appearance. It produces a cup that is savory and sweet, with naturally fruity and spicy aromatics.

Today, this cultivar is often used to produce white teas, particularly Yunnan Silver Needle-style teas. This spring harvest of Dian Hong showcases its versatility, offering a rich, dense cup with notes of raspberry jam and warming spice.

Traditional Preparation

Add 4-5g to a gaiwan or gongfu teapot (per 150 mL).

Don’t rinse this tea.

Use water cooled to 200°F.

Infuse for 2 minutes and decant.

Repeat for another 2+ infusions or until the essence of the tea dissipates.

    Honestly, one of the worst black teas I’ve tried from China in a very long time. Very light tea with quite a bit of bitterness. Tea leaves look nice and smell good, but not a tea ill ever purchase again, and this comes from a lover of Chinese black teas. This ones tastes more like an Indian Assam tea (bitter with little flavor) but less bold. Not at all rich or dense as described. Quite disappointing.
