Spicy Masala Chai

A masala chai for the bold, finished with hot ginger and cayenne chili flakes

Inspired by the bold street chai of India, this version turns up the heat in the very best way. We doubled the amount of hot, citrusy ginger compared to our original Masala Chai and added a touch of cayenne for an extra kick.

A base of robust assamica from Southeast Asia gives the blend its full body, while cardamom, cinnamon and clove add sweet, fragrant complexity. Simply mix with your choice of milk and sweeten to taste for a rich, spicy cup that warms you up from within.

Reviews Summary
Customers say: this spicy chai tea delivers excellent heat and flavor, with prominent ginger and spice notes that create a warming sensation. Many appreciate the perfect balance of spiciness without being overwhelming. Users frequently mix it with regular masala chai to customize the spice level or caffeine content. The tea works well with milk, honey, and various sweeteners. Some note the ginger can be strong, while others wish for even more spice. A few mention it has less black tea base than preferred. Most find it superior to other chai brands for authentic spiciness.

    Obsessed

I recently returned from Winchester, England where I'd had and purchased a spicy chai. When I'd finished it at home, I was so sad as I'd gotten into a habit of making myself a rather savory dirty chai in the mornings. When I found this spicy masala chai, I was deeply curious about the flavors - different from the spicy chai I'd been drinking, not really sweet, and incredibly delicious. I purchased the 1lb bag and am so glad I did because it is wonderful. I am obsessed!

    Nice light kick, not overwhelming

Rishi Chai and the Masala Chai have the right degree of ingredients. Sometimes cloves can be strong, but in both the flavors I get the flavor and it is not too strong. Good mixing job.

    Tasty Warmth

I switched from Marsala chai to spicy Marsala chai and so happy I did. I live in the Midwest and it’s been an extremely cold and unpredictable winter. Mornings are cold and I had to give up coffee, and this was the perfect replacement. I mix it with a flavored bone broth, a tad half and half, and froth it. The spiciness is like a warmth and not hot, like when you think chili. It’s due to the ginger. For me it’s a flavorful and much healthier start of the day. Try it at least once and use your imagination, be creative. Tea can be like food with varying flavors.
