A precious Silver Needle white tea that fills your cup with the vibrant energy and tender sweetness of early spring

Silver Needles is a traditional Tribute Tea—a tea so precious it was once reserved for the Chinese imperial court. Made purely from early spring buds, this noble style is prized for its fine silvery trichomes—tiny hairs that protect against insects and contribute to the tea’s natural sweetness. Over 30,000 buds must be plucked by hand to produce just one kilogram of Silver Needles.

Although Silver Needles is traditionally produced along the coastal highlands of Fujian Province, ours is rooted in Jinggu—a remote mountainous area of Pu’er County in Yunnan. The ancient Mengku and Menghai broadleaf tea trees here offer a complexity not found in other cultivars. That varietal expression translates to a distinctive fruity aroma and nectar flavor in the cup.

Easygoing and gently stimulating, this organic Silver Needles is perfect for unhurried mornings, long stretches of deep work and shared moments with friends who will appreciate the nuance and delicacy of a fine white tea.

FAQs

How should I store Silver Needles tea?

Like other loose leaf teas, our Silver Needles tea should be stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to preserve the flavor and aroma of the buds.

Is organic Silver Needles tea high in caffeine?

As a white tea, Silver Needles has a medium amount of caffeine. Generally, white teas are low in caffeine compared to other tea types like black, green, and Oolong. That said, Silver Needles is made from young tea buds, and since tea plants store their caffeine at the buds and leaf tips, this tea has a higher caffeine content than other white varieties.

What is the best way to enjoy Silver Needles white tea?

Tea as rare as Silver Needles deserves to be relished. Traditional brewing methods such as using a gaiwan will help bring out its refreshing and subtle flavors. Alternatively, you can use a glass teapot which allows you to see the tea buds infuse into the water.

    Never had this before

This was my first time having silver needles tea and I was presently surprised. I let them steep cold overnight and it was very refreshing for a light tea.

This tea was everything I hoped it would be. It has as much flavor as any oolong I've tried but still has that subtleness to it.
