Wa Shan Ecological Tea Garden sits in Lincang, on the border with Myanmar (Burma) in southwestern Yunnan. Surrounded by a lush and biodiverse mountainous region, this certified organic tea farm is one we have been working with since 2013. Wa Shan is a famous tea mountain since ancient times named after the Wa ethnic minority who have farmed tea in this region for more than a thousand years.

Traditional Preparation
Do not rinse this tea; infuse the 1st brew for 2 - 3 minutes.
Repeat several times until the flavor and aroma of the tea dissipates. As the brewing session ensues, increase the infusion time to coax out the body and strength of the final infusions. This top-shelf black tea is delightfully smooth and aromatic when brewed straight, or divine with a touch of milk and sugar.

I just got this for the first time (I first tasted a free sample a few years ago). I had avoided it due to the price, but then I read the preparation detail regarding several brews each time and realized that it's actually not bad if you follow through on resteeping. I brewed 5 times when the order arrived - once 2 minutes, second 4 minutes third around 7, then 15, and finally half the quantity of water for a long time. All brews were really lovely! Perhaps my new favorite black tea, at least for days I am around the house in the morning!

I really like this black tea. It has very nice aroma. I drink it without milk and I appreciate when black teas are not insanely bitter. This one is bitter but just a little bit. My go to black tea!

I have been drinking this daily for about four years now and can honestly say this tea is a personal favorite. Malty and honey sweet…thick but not bitter. I have purchased many 1 #bags- but just so you realise this is an agricultural product and expect it have some variations from year to year. Last year was not so tippy, year before was not as sweet. My suggestion is to always buy a sample or 1/4# first to make sure that you love this crop before buying a pound. Then if you love this particular year - then buy as much as you can afford because rest assured next season’s crop will not be exactly the same. And ENJOY !
