I was excited to see mushroom hero available as s loose tea rather than packaged in bags. I am a huge fan of the mushroomy musky flavor of the original formula from a free years ago. This batch of summer 2026 lacks the mushroom smell and instead dominates in cacao/chocolate aroma. I do not desire chocolate in my mushroom tea, both for the taste and the ill health effects of oxalates, a plant defense toxin cacao is very high in. Yes, I read the ingredient list but didn’t think to check against the previous batch nor could I not having saved the packaging. I don’t understand why chocolate has to be added to everything, leave the musky, sophisticated tasting teas alone, please. There are enough tannins in the other ingredients, and oxalates, to warrant reducing the load rather than increasing it. As more people become aware of how much health damage oxalates, tannins, fluoride and multiple other plant toxins wreak, an awareness of ALL the constituents within the products you sell is best policy, demonstrating due diligence.

I started buying Rishi Mushroom Hero 8 years ago and it has always been my favorite tea. No other brand and no other line would get close to how this tea tasted: like a sweet coffee, just perfect.

I held off on buying lately because the price has been rapidly rising. Likely tariffs n such - I get it.

I just broke down and got a bag of loose Mushroom Hero and frankly, it sucks. I have a bag of the weakest tea: when I fill the basket strainer as full as it will go, I get a cup of brown water where before half that amount previously made a perfectly balanced cup.

So I am paying 20 dollars more per bag for half strength tea. I say boo to that. Think I'm done with Rishi.
