Origin
Kirishima Mountain
Kagoshima, Japan
Kirishima Mountain is an active volcano on Japan's southern island of Kagoshima. The mineral rich volcanic soils of Kirishima Mountain create a perfect environment for growing organic teas. Because Kagoshima is situated in the southern region of Japan, the teas grown here are among the first to emerge during the Shincha season in early spring, sometimes even one full month before the northern regions begin to flush. Kirishima Mountain teas are noted for their lively green color and balance of umami with vibrant green bittersweetness.

FAQs
What is the difference between ceremonial matcha powder and other grades of matcha?
Ceremonial matcha powder contains only the finest first-flush leaves with the most chlorophyll. This produces sweet, delicate flavors and a vibrant green color. You can use our barista grade matcha for everyday enjoyment, whereas our culinary matcha is a lower-quality grade made to withstand heat during cooking and baking.
What’s the best way to store my ceremonial matcha powder?
Because matcha is ground so finely, it breaks down quickly when exposed to oxygen and sunlight. Store matcha powder in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from heat and sunlight. We recommend consuming your tin of matcha within two weeks of opening for optimal taste.
Do I need to buy all the matcha accessories to enjoy matcha at home?
Technically no. You can make matcha tea at home in a shallow tea cup or bowl, but you won’t be able to fully dissolve the finely ground ceremonial matcha powder without at least buying a bamboo matcha whisk. Matcha bowls are round and shallow, which makes whisking easier, and a matcha sifter allows you to gently and easily sift out clumps in your matcha.

Arrived faster than expected. Very higher mid tier wonderful matcha. Affordable! Lovely green shade in a beautiful white can! A bit toasty, nothing bitter in my opinion, a warm nutty (less grassy) flavor with volume. I could drink this on its own, and clean without sweeteners, unlike some brands I’ve tried. In my iced latte I used less than norm honey and no vanilla (my usual). So good!
