About this Tea
The Baokang region of Hubei Province is renowned for its exceptional environment that is ideal for organic tea production. Particularly, for its most famous “Maojian” green tea, a distinguished variety known for its delicate flavor, vibrant green color, and fresh aroma that reflects the alpine terroir. Baokang's unique microclimatic conditions, characterized by moderate temperatures and ample rainfall, create a nurturing environment for organic tea bushes to thrive. The seemingly endless tracts of surrounding forestry act as a natural buffer zone, shrouding the organic tea farms from harsh weather and industrial-urban pollution.

The mountainous and forested terrain of Baokang contributes significantly to Maojian green tea’s distinctive character. This special terroir allows tea leaves to develop complex flavors, which are further enhanced by the mineral-rich soils that are abundant in essential nutrients that support organic tea bushes without the use of fertilizers. Maojian green tea is purely hand-harvested according to the 1 bud and 2 tender leaves plucking standard of first growth spring tea. Farmers in Baokang have practiced traditional tea farming techniques for generations, focusing on organic methods that promote sustainability and environmental health. Likewise, they have focused on traditional artisan tea making methods that delicately and minimally wither, roast, shape and bake the Maojian to keep its refreshing taste profile.
