Sencha is the traditional, daily steamed green tea of Japan. Our Sencha is made from prized tea bush cultivars including Sae Midori and Okumidori, and is a blend of the first and second flush harvests from organic farms on Kyushu island in southern Japan. Kyushu's mineral rich volcanic soil, coupled with skillful organic soil management, creates a sweet and full-bodied green tea flavor. This chumushi sencha yields a slightly opaque, bold green infusion with deep umami and juicy mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes: Premium Japanese green tea with a rich mouthfeel and long-lasting fresh flavor

Additional Info: Green Teas are enjoyed worldwide for their invigorating, fresh character preserved through various crafting styles and firing methods.

This tea originates in Kirishima, Kagoshima, Japan.
Water Temperature: 170°F

Steep Time: 2 minutes (1st infusion), 2-3 mintues (2nd infusion)

For the best infusions, we recommend brewing this tea in a Tokoname teapot.

We encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time to find your desired brew strength. Varying the water temperature isn't recommended, as water that is too hot will over-extract the bitter components of tea, while water that is too cool might not fully draw out the aromas and flavors of tea.

I do not care for the taste of this tea. My husband, however, prefers this to my favorite. I can't help but taste a green grass, hay sort of taste.

I drink Matcha and Sencha Daily for years. I must say that this Sencha is surprisingly delicious. Fantastic nose, dark green shiny leaves. If brewed properly, little to no bitterness, strong umami, green and fresh tasting. Highly recommended
