Description

Our saffron bitters "digestivo" blend is based on ancient Amari recipes from Italy. Amari (singular Amaro) is a category of bitter herbal liqueurs from Italy that have hundreds if not thousands of years of botanical wisdom and food cultural relevance. Back in the days when the kitchen and garden were the people's doctor and pharmacy, herbal liqueurs were concocted by local herbalists in monasteries and apothecaries to ward off the evils and ailments of the day.

Today, herbal liqueurs find their way into craft cocktails and bars all over the world and are ever more popular for their naturally exotic aromatics. Our Herb Lab Series Saffron Bitters is inspired by the complexity and bracingly bitter edge of Fernet Branca with its heady eucalyptus and exotic herbal notes and by La Stregga which is noted for its bitter sweet and golden liquor infused with Angelica and saffron.

Rishi's Saffron Bitters is an ode to herbalists' and mixologists' creativity and passion. It can be infused as a herbal tea or cold brewed in vodka for 10 days and filtered to create an herbal liqueur of your own.

Our blend features the aromatic fruits and rinds of rare citrus and bergamots as well as top grade saffron from Afghanistan and a plethora of rarified quality botanicals that create the balance and energy of this amazing blend.
