		Although Shizuoka prefecture, located southwest of Mt. Fuji, is considered the tea capital of Japan, Kagoshima teas have been steadily growing in popularity among Japanese tea merchants. Kagoshima has grown in popularity due to the fact that this is the area in Japan where the first flush harvest occurs at the earliest date.
