Youhen Yaki, Matcha Bowl
Matcha bowl by artist Yuho from Tokoname, Japan. The Youhen Yaki is made from a natural red clay that is baked once at 2,190°F with no oxygen in the kiln, and a second time at 1,742°F while the bowl is half buried in rice husks. The beautiful colors and sheen come from a combination of high temperature, zero oxygen and long firing time.
