Yi Congou, Organic Fair Trade Black Tea
Yi Congou is the traditional black tea from Xuan En County that evolved from the rise of Keemun black tea’s popularity in Western tea markets during the mid-19th century. Often mistaken for Keemun and exported falsely as such, Yi Congou has a smooth, sweet flavor with a light chocolate note and sweet finish. Although it resembles Keemun small leaf black tea, it is less smoky and tarry and has a broad appeal for black tea lovers. Congou refers to its grade name and is taken from the Chinese term, “Gong Fu,” which, in this case, means handmade black tea from central China.
Water: 212°F / Leaves: 1 tablespoon per 8 ounces / Infusion Time: 3–4 minutes / Ingredients: Organic and Fair Trade Certified™ black tea. / Origin: Hubei, China.
