Feng Huang Dancong "Huang Zhi Xiang", Oolong Tea

Cultivar: Feng Huang Dancong Huang Zhi Xiang Oolong Tea
Aroma Type: “Huang Zhi Xiang” (Orange Blossom)
Harvest Time: May 1–10, 2008
Origin: Wudong, China. From 30- to 50-year-old trees propagated from a 600-year-old Feng Huang Dancong tree.
Availability: Less than 110 kg of limited batch was made from the older bushes this year.

History:
Huang Zhi Xiang Dancong is named after its distinctive aroma that is similar to the fragrant golden-colored flower, “Huang Zhi Hua,” or “Orange Blossom,” that grows throughout China and Southeast Asia.

There are more than 40 varietals of Dancong that can produce the Huang Zhi aroma. Huang Zhi Xiang is one of the most widely cultivated aroma types of all Feng Huang Dancongs.

The fragrance of Huang Zhi Xiang varies from light to intense aroma. Our limited-edition batch is known for its intense aroma type, so it is called “Nong Xiang.”

Our “Nong Xiang Huang Zhi Xiang” is made from clones of an old Feng Huang Dancong tree that is more than 600 years old. It has a unique and rare intensity. Due to the limited amount of 30- to 50-year-old trees that were propagated from that old Dancong tree, we could only secure a very small batch of this amazing Oolong tea.

Flavor Profile:
Our batch is lightly oxidized, producing a pale green-gold infusion. It is blessed with an intense, long lasting, exotic and flowery aroma with lingering tropical fruit notes. The flavor has bittersweet and fruity complements with a semi-dry start and mouth-watering finish. Use cooler water, about 190°F-195°F, for the first four infusions; increase the water temperature after many infusions to bring out this tea’s inner strength.
