Centuries ago, the ancient tea cultures of Yunnan and Southeast Asia brewed Pu-erh tea together with spices and citrus to create nourishing, stimulating tonics. Today, our Pu-erh Ginger pays tribute to this traditional tea recipe blended by Rishi Tea artisans in micro-batches for the most enriching flavor. We source organic ginger with a bright, citrusy flavor that harmonizes with the zesty notes of orange peel and the robust, full body of Pu-erh tea for a truly energizing Pu-erh tea blend.

Tasting Notes: Robust and invigorating with zesty ginger and hints of citrus

Ingredients: Organic Fair Trade Certified™ pu-erh tea, organic ginger root, organic orange peel.

Additional Info: Pu-erh tea has an ancient past originating in Yunnan, China millennia ago. This rare, rich tasting tea is treasured as a healthful, energizing tonic. Its deep, smooth flavor is created through an artisanal pile fermentation process that transforms sun-dried green tea into ripened, full-bodied Pu-erh tea.

Rishi Tea Blend
Water Temperature: 212°F (boiling)
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1 tablespoon per 8 ounces
Steep Time: 5 minutes (1st infusion), 6 minutes (2nd infusion)

We encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time to find your desired brew strength. Varying the water temperature isn't recommended, as water that is too hot will over-extract the bitter components of tea, while water that is too cool might not fully draw out the aromas and flavors of tea.

This is the best tea I have ever had. I adore the spiciness of the ginger and the earthiness of the aged tea. I drink this almost every day.

First, I must admit to being a bit of a Pu Erh snob. I know a good Pu Erh when I taste it and I can't say this is it. Perhaps my palate was ruined by the non-organic Pu Erh I had been drinking one hour before. Never underestimate the complexity of a $5.00 bag of Pu Erh from an Asian Market. Some of those are the best. With that said, this Pu Erh isn't bad. Unfortunately, the Ginger is overpowering to this tea. The Ginger should be a background flavor, but here it overpowers the richness of the actual tea. Unfortunately, as a result of this I won't be buying it again but I look forward to trying other Rishi teas.

Ok, I decided to come back and make a second review of this tea. My first review was a bit harsh and I've had time to grow with this tea or maybe I've give this tea time to allow me to catch up to the spiciness of the ginger. Regardless, let me tell you what I've found. Ready?

This tea makes a brilliant iced tea. Yes, that's right. Lightly sweetened with ice once can appreciate the strength of the ginger combined with the Pu-ehr. It's absolutely perfect as an iced tea. I like this one so much iced that it may easily become my go to iced tea. I don't like it hot but I love it iced!
