Cultivar: Fuding Da Hao
Harvest Dates: March 27-30th, 2014
This year's Mingqian White Peony King is our top grade of Bai Mu Dan white tea, with a smooth honeyed taste balanced with subtle aromas of spring flowers and orchids. This tea is cultivated amongst rolling hills in the Fuding area of northern Fujian province. Ranging from 500-700 meters above sea level in elevation, these tea gardens are constantly enveloped in mists and clouds during the spring season, allowing the tea bushes to grow slowly and develop sweet, rich tasting tea abundant in amino acids. This superior grade tea is known locally as "Bai Mu Dan Wang," which translates to "White Peony King," and represents the very first picking of the year in which tea farmers pluck just the very tender first growth of the year following the one-leaf-and-one-bud and two-leaves-and-one-bud plucking standards. Mingqian literally means "Pre-Qingming," and is a tea term used to denote exceedingly rare spring teas harvested before the Qingming Festival, which fell on April 5 this year.
Tasting Notes: Rare pre-Qingming White Peony offering a bright golden infusion with a rich, honey-like body balanced with lush aromas of orchids and magnolias
Ingredients: Organic white tea.
Bailin Region, Fujian Province, China.
Loose Tea: 2 tablespoons dry leaf per 8oz of water
Water Temperature: 185°F
Steep Time: 3-4 minutes. This tea can be enjoyed for at least 3 infusions.
We encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time
to find your desired brew strength. Varying the water temperature isn't recommended, as water that
is too hot will over-extract the bitter components of tea, while water that is too cool might not
fully draw out the aromas and flavors of tea.
