Earl Grey is a British tea classic and the most popular tea of the Western World. This citrus-scented tea blend dates back to the 19th Century Sino-British trade of opium, tea, silk and porcelain. Our bestselling Organic Earl Grey blends bold-flavored Yunnan Dian Hong harvested from antique tea trees with natural Bergamot citrus from Southern Italy.

Tasting Notes: Smooth and lively with the unique citrusy, floral aroma of bergamot oranges

Ingredients: Organic black tea, essential bergamot oil.

Additional Info: Classic black teas offer a timeless taste of tea's rich history and express a distinct sense of place, determined not only by geography and climate, but also by culture and tradition.

Rishi Tea Blend
Water Temperature: 212°F (boiling)
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1 tablespoon per 8 ounces
Steep Time: 4 minutes (1st infusion), 5 minutes (2nd infusion)

We encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time to find your desired brew strength. Varying the water temperature isn't recommended, as water that is too hot will over-extract the bitter components of tea, while water that is too cool might not fully draw out the aromas and flavors of tea.

Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon The finest Earl Grey I've ever had
By Mark D on January 24, 2013

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm an Earl Grey addict. I LOVE Earl Grey. Over the years I have tried dozens of brands both bagged and loose. When I was at WholeFoods the other day I saw the Rishi Loose Leaf Earl Grey and had to give it a try. Opening the bag the nose on this blend was outstanding. I wanted to eat the tea leaves it smelled so good! I quickly grabbed the infuser and filled it with a nice teaspoon full of the beautifully LARGE loose leaf tea and slowly poured in the piping hot water. I sat there watching the infusion anxiously awaiting the first sip. I raised the cup to my lips and took a light sip not knowing what to expect and BAM it hit me, a wonderfully smooth, slightly tangy and extremely well balanced mix of the BEST Earl Grey I've ever had. This is hands down the Earl Grey by which all others should be measured. I finished the 3.3oz bag I got from WholeFoods in about a week and promptly ordered a pound when I realized I had but two servings left. This is a tea that will forever have a permanent spot in my cupboard. This is it my friends, don't waste your time with other brands, you will be met with constant disappointment. Save yourself the time and money and just buy this already!!

This is probably the best black tea, and certainly the best Earl Grey, that I've ever had the pleasure to drink. The aroma is gorgeous. There is no bitterness at the nose, yet it is not too sweet either. This goes for both the tea in its brewed and unbrewed states. The flavor is soft, but strong. It is not too acidic. It seems to be perfectly balanced.
This is not a tea that needs hiding under plenty of cream, though it does pair well with a touch of it.
This is the kind of tea that can make anyone into a tea lover.

I got this on a whim and OMG, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this tea. It is the highlight of my day. This really is great tea. If you think you don't like Earl Grey, you are wrong, at least about this tea. Try it, you won't regret it.

The box says 1st infusion 4 min, 2nd 5 min. Why not say 9 min? Or is there something going on between the two recommended infusions? I use a Breville tea maker and loose leaf tea.
