Ancient Yellow Buds is composed of single, ripe bud shoots harvested from the heart of ancient tea culture in Yunnan, China. Common yellow teas are made with small-leaf or medium-leaf cultivars in regions of central and eastern China. Our is unique in that it is made with buds harvested from ancient broad-leaf tea cultivars in Yunnan, lending our Ancient Yellow Buds its distinctive sweet fruity character.

Basic Brewing Guidelines
Water Temperature: 180°F
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1-2 tablespoons per 8 ounces
Steep Time: 3-4 minutes

This tea is best when brewed in a porcelain Guywan, glass teapot, or a Ho-hin. Use 180°F water. We recommend 2 minutes for the first infusion, 3 minutes for the second infusion, and 5 minutes for subsequent infusions.

We encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time to find your desired brew strength. Varying the water temperature isn't recommended, as water that is too hot will over-extract the bitter components of tea, while water that is too cool might not fully draw out the aromas and flavors of tea.

Okay, I wasn't too fond of this tea at first. Perhaps I brewed it incorrectly? Then, I decided to put it in my simple brew for a cold brew. OMG! This tea brewed cold is amazing.

To me this tasted like a cross between Green Pekoe and Silver Needle White. I never liked Green Pekoe because the unique flavor was many times to pronounced and almost "fishy". However just hints of such a unique flavor crossed with the flavors of White made this tea taste amazing. I was really surprised. It brews up with almost no color which is misleading to its quite intense taste for a lighter tea. My only mistake was not running back to buy more since I just noticed it is currently out of stock.
