Organic and Fair Trade
Black Tea

Black tea originated in China hundreds of years ago and was further developed throughout the world’s tea growing regions. Unlike green tea processing which attempts to preserve the green color of fresh tealeaves, black tea processing encourages fresh tealeaves to oxidize and change color from green to coppery-red. This change in leaf color during processing is called
enzymatic oxidation and is often referred to as
“fermentation.” Black teas are considered fermented while green teas are unfermented.

By choosing Rishi’s Fair Trade Certified Organic Black Teas you are directly supporting a better life for artisan tea producers through fair prices, direct trade, community development, education and environmental stewardship.
